Installing RabbitMQ on Windows...

October 4, 2017

These are my notes on getting RabbitMQ up and running on Windows. Everytime I do this install there are new gotchas. I’ll update this with any new findings

  1. Download Erlang and install
  2. Download RabbitMQ and install
  3. Check if this file C:\Windows.erlang.cookie and this file C:\Users\youruser.erlang.cookie are equals. If not, copy C:\Windows.erlang.cookie to C:\Users\youruser.erlang.cookie
  4. Run: RabbitMQ sbin command prompt as administrator.
  5. Run: “rabbitmq-service remove”
  6. Run: “rabbitmq-service install”
  7. Run: net start rabbitmq
  8. Run: rabbitmq-plugins enable rabbitmq_management
  9. Run: rabbitmq-plugins enable rabbitmq_shovel
  10. open the management portal http://localhost:15672

Queues are great!

My name is Deon Heyns and I am a developer learning things and documenting them in realtime. Python, Ruby, Scala, .NET, and Groovy are all languages I have written code in. I appeared in the New York Post once. I host my code up at GitHub and Bitbucket so have a look at my code, fork it and send those pull requests.
